Scott enters a Tampa Bay secondary that values versatility heavily, especially at nickel corner, where responsibilities extend far beyond basic coverage assignments. Slot defenders in Bowles’ system are expected to blitz, tackle in space, and rotate through multiple alignments depending on the coverage structure.
That role gives Scott an opportunity to compete for snaps immediately. Tampa Bay’s secondary became younger this offseason, and the coaching staff appears focused on adding defensive backs capable of handling movement and pressure responsibilities rather than staying limited to one assignment.
Tampa Bay needed more speed and flexibility in the defensive backfield after struggling with consistency at times last season, particularly underneath and in space.
Scott may not enter the season as one of the defense’s headline names, but the role itself could put him on the field quickly. In this defense, versatility usually determines playing time, and that is where his projection becomes most interesting heading into training camp.
