Iconic Cincinnati music venue rebranding 2 months after mass shooting

One of Cincinnati’s largest concert venues, where a mass shooting occurred earlier this year, has undergone yet another rebrand.

Riverfront Live is now Annie’s Music Center, according to the venue’s website. In March, nine people were shot inside the venue during a private party.

The name Annie’s, however, isn’t exactly new.

Years before the venue was Riverfront Live, it was Annie’s, Cincinnati’s home for iconic heavy metal and hard rock acts. After short stints as Stage Forty-Three and Inner Circle, Tim Jordan bought the venue in partnership with his son in October 2018, renaming it Riverfront Live.

Jordan posted on Facebook about the name change May 13. He said that it is a bittersweet moment for him, but that he announces the new name with excitement.

The Enquirer messaged Jordan to ask if any shows will be rescheduled. Jordan did not immediately respond.

The old Annie’s had a history of being the afterparty spot with a bit of a rough reputation. Jordan had changed the venue’s name to Riverfront Live hoping to separate it from that reputation.

After the shooting in March, Jordan told The Enquirer that he didn’t know how the gunman made it inside. He said the club had three off-duty police officers in the club and five patrols in the parking lot.
