A Milwaukee man who confessed to being drunk when he crashed into another vehicle on Interstate 43, killing two people in Port Washington, will spend the next three decades in prison.
Ozaukee County Circuit Judge Sandy A. Williams on May 12 ordered Ace Vue, 35, to serve a total of 30 years of initial confinement. Vue also must serve 25 years of extended supervision once his prison time is completed.
Court records show Vue pleaded guilty in February to guilty to two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle in the May 30, 2025, deaths of Nicole Horne, 51, and Jay Horne, 56, of Oostburg.
He also entered a guilty plea to one count of injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle for seriously hurting 22-year-old passenger Alissa Horne.
Here’s what happened that night
It was just after midnight when Vue got on I-43 in the Town of Belgium, driving a red Lexus southbound in the northbound lanes.
According to a criminal complaint, Vue was seen “swerving and excessively speeding.” Other cars flashed their lights and honked as he passed by. At least five people called 911.
The Lexus slammed head-on into the Hornes’ Ford Escape, which was heading north on the interstate.
Dash camera footage retrieved from Vue’s vehicle showed his vehicle’s speed was 92 mph when it collided with the Escape, the complaint says.
Nicole Horne and Jay Horne died at the scene. Alissa Horne was pinned in the backseat but was conscious.
Deputies extricated both Alissa Horne and Vue from their respective vehicles. Vue was arrested at his home in Milwaukee on June 2.
Court records show Assistant District Attorney Benjamin Lindsay pushed for Vue to stay in prison for 45 years when Vue entered his guilty pleas.
In all, five people have died in crashes on Ozaukee County roads in 2025, when the crash occurred, compared with two road fatalities in that county the year before, according to the most updated data provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
So far in 2026, two people have lost their lives on roads in Ozaukee County.
