Hey, North Liberty, the Gin Blossoms are headed for the newly opened Hy-Vee Amphitheater at Centennial Park.
The multi-platinum American rock band will visit North Liberty on Sunday, Sept. 13.
The concert is organized by the City of North Liberty in partnership with the Englert Theatre. Tickets for the Gin Blossoms go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 15, on Englert’s website.
Tickets are general admission for the outdoor stage’s greenspace, and cost $55 for adults, while youth and student tickets are $25.
Who are the Gin Blossoms?
The Gin Blossoms are pioneers of alternative rock, first formed in Tempe, Arizona, in 1987. The band produced hits in the early ’90s with songs like “Hey Jealousy,” “Allison Road,” and “Until I Fall Away.”
The Grammy Award-nominated group was inducted into the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2017. The Gin Blossoms’ latest release, “Mixed Reality,” from 2018, is a nostalgic return to what made the band stand out, with matured songwriting and harmony-driven rock n’ roll.
What free events are coming to the Hy-Vee Amphitheater?
The City of North Liberty unveiled the Centennial Park amphitheater in February, marking the area’s return to community events, aiming to be more than just “a municipal building.”
North Liberty kicks off the festival season with a free party on Friday, May 22, headlined by The Pork Tornadoes.
Other free events include Ballet Des Moines’ summer Transformations tour on Saturday, June 6; Fanfare and Flight arrives on Thursday, July 2; The Elemental Circus flies into town on Sunday, July 26; and Buckets N Boards, a family-friendly percussion comedy show, is in North Liberty on Sunday, Aug. 9.
North Liberty’s flagship event, Blues and BBQ, which draws more than 20,000 for a celebration of blues-inspired artists and local pitmasters, will return Saturday, July 11, after a one-year hiatus. The Main Squeeze, a five-piece funk band from Los Angeles that has toured with George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic and Marcus King, will headline Blues and BBQ.
Other ticketed events to check out at Centennial Park in 2026
The Englert Theatre and the City of North Liberty have teamed up to bring exclusive events to Centennial Park throughout the year.
The lineup so far includes A Night at the Movies with Orchestra Iowa on Saturday, May 30, featuring music by composer John Williams, known for his scores of cult classics like Jurassic Park. Tickets range from $13 to $49.50.
The “Are You Ready For It? A Taylor Experience,” a Taylor Swift tribute band, will perform on Friday, Sept. 11. Tickets are available online and cost $35 for adults and $20 for students and youth.
