ESPN College GameDay announces Austin stop for Texas vs. Ohio State

Last year, popular college football pregame show ESPN College GameDay never made it to Austin. The traveling production was in Columbus, OH for the Longhorns visit to Ohio State. But, as the Texas season wobbled, so did UT’s chances to host GameDay. 2026 will be different. The show has already announced a trip to Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.

Last year’s College GameDay in the Horns Week 1 clash at the Horseshoe against Ohio State was also Lee Corso’s final appearance on the show.

The stop in Austin will be the 501st airing of the show, and will feature hosts Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit. ESPN has also announced the kickoff time for the game vs. the Buckeyes. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. CT on Sept. 12.

It will be the 29th time that Texas has been part of a matchup that College GameDay has broadcast from. It is the 10th time the show has been to Austin.

The last time College GameDay was in Austin was in 2024 when then No. 1 Texas hosted No. 5 Georgia. The Bulldogs won the game 30–15. The Longhorns have a four-game losing streak as the host of College GameDay. The last time UT won as the host was in 2009 against TCU. Texas’s record all-time as the host is an 5–5.
