The No. 12 Florida State Seminoles defeated the Clemson Tigers in their final game of the series, 6-3, and secured the series win. They have advanced to 36-15 (17-10 ACC) on the season, and are now 10-9 when on the road.
In the second inning, Nathan Cmeyla got FSU on the board with a solo home run. Carter McCulley made it a 2-0 game later in the inning, singling to left field to score Ben Barrett. John Stuetzer capped the inning off with a sacrifice fly, driving in Cal Fisher. McCulley homered in the top of the fourth before Clemson would get on the board.
The Tigers scored in the bottom of the fifth when Jack Crighton reached on a fielding error, and Jarren Purify came home, making it a 4-1 FSU lead. FSU responded with a Stuetzer single with Barrett scoring yet again at the top of the sixth to make it a lead of 5-1.
Clemson added another run when Jason Fultz Jr. reached on a drop fly ball with two outs. FSU made two errors in the inning as Clemson made it a 5-2 game.
The Seminoles answered back with a Brody DeLamielleur single in the eighth inning, allowing Stuetzer to score and putting them up 6-2. Finally, Clemson scored in the bottom of the eighth when Purify singled, and Jacob Jarrell scored. It was not enough, though, as the score stayed at 6-3 entering the ninth inning.
FSU finished the game with 15 hits, including two home runs. They had several chances to take an even bigger lead, but went 4-23 with runners on and 3-15 with runners in scoring position, allowing Clemson to hang around.
Bryson Moore allowed one run over 6.0 innings for FSU to earn the win. Brodie Purcell got the final four outs to earn his third save of the season, walking one batter and striking out three.
The Seminoles will look to extend their winning streak when they welcome their rivals, the Miami Hurricanes, for a three-game series starting on Thursday to end the regular season. Fans can catch that game on the ACC Network Extra at 6 p.m. ET.
