Lanes and ramps are planned to close on and near Michigan 14 and Interstate 96 next week as the Michigan Department of Transportation continues construction on the area.
On Tuesday, May 12, the westbound I-96 Service Drive, also known as Schoolcraft Road, will have one lane open from Newburgh Road to the westbound I-96 ramp, which remains closed, according to a news release from MDOT on May 8.
On Saturday, May 16, construction is planned on I-96, M-14 and Interstate 275 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., with the potential for more construction on Sunday depending on weather, according to MDOT. The following areas will be impacted:
Once work on those areas is completed, the following lane and ramp configurations will remain through early August:
The construction is part of the M-14/I-96 Reconstruction Project underway from Sheldon Road to Newburgh Road in Plymouth Township and Livonia.
The project includes road reconstruction, bridge rehabilitation of 17 structures, drainage system updates, freeway lighting replacement and new Intelligent Transportation Systems technology, according to the project website m14reconstruction.org.
