CHILLICOTHE — Between local, state and national parks, Ross County has plenty of free spaces to explore this summer. Some of these parks even have trails for bikers to enjoy. Take a look at four bike trails you can visit in Ross County this summer:
Paint Creek Recreational Trail
The Paint Creek Recreational Trail is a 34-mile paved path that connects Chillicothe to Washington Court House following an abandoned railroad corridor. Cyclists can enjoy city and nature scenes during this ride.
There are multiple points of entry to the trail, including one at the Don Coppel Athletic Complex and one near the Pump House Center for the Arts.
Hewitt Trail
Located in Scioto Trail State Park, the Hewitt Trail is 1.9 miles long and of moderate difficulty. The looped path takes hikers, those with pets and mountain bikers to the edge of the state park and near the state forest.
Scioto Trail State Park is also home to the Stewart Trail, which is 0,8 mile long and of medium difficulty. The trail is open to hikers, pets and cyclists.

Shawnee Ridge Trail
Located in Great Seal State Park, the Shawnee Ridge Trail is 5.8 miles long and of moderate difficulty. The path takes hikers, those with pets, cyclists and horse riders from the northern end to the southern end of the park.
Great Seal State Park is home to multiple bike-friendly trails that have a total of 17 miles to enjoy.
South Double Track Trail
Located in Paint Creek State Park, the South Double Track Trail is 5.7 miles long and of moderate difficulty. The looped trail takes cyclists and hikers through the park and features alternative side paths to explore.
Paint Creek State Park is home to 12 miles of mountain bike trails.
