Dallas Cowboys news. Cowboys rookies top NFL jersey sales

Dallas hasn’t won as many games as their fans think they should in several decades, but there are other measures of popularity that the Cowboys are going to rank well in and so it is with the early list of best-selling rookie jerseys.

That seems to reflect the excitement for top draft pick Caleb Downs, who already is moving a lot of merch and drawing praise from every corner.

The Cowboys also added another training camp body to give them 12 undrafted free agents chasing a dream. Here is what the Cowboys are up to.

Dallas Cowboys rookie jerseys

For those wondering what “America’s Team” really means in an era where Dallas is 20 years removed from its last Super Bowl, here it is. Fanatics just released its list of the top 10 selling rookie jerseys and the Cowboys are sitting 1-3 with Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence.

Miami’s second-round pick, linebacker Jacob Rodriguez from Texas Tech, made the list at No. 2 while top draft pick Fernando Mendoza is fifth. The only other team with two rookies in the top 10 is Miami, which has Chris Johnson at No. 6

Here is the list:

Note that these numbers are for preorders as jersey numbers aren’t even set yet. But preorders do give buyers an option of four installments to get to the $150 they run.

Caleb Downs

Raves continue to pour in for Dallas’ first-round draft pick Caleb Downs, the safety from Ohio State. ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg came out with a column analyzing the draft from the perspective of college coaches and here’s what he got on Downs from his college coach Ryan Day.

“I don’t think there was any doubt that he is a generational player, talking to different clubs, the feedback we got in his interviews,” Day told Rittenberg. “Watching the draft year in and year out, you see certain things that kind of make you look at things sideways. …

“Just sitting there as a coach, when you see some guys come off the board in front of somebody like Caleb Downs, it just makes you think, ‘I wonder where they’re going to be in five to 10 years, looking back on this draft, and if they have any regrets.’ But I know the Cowboys got a great one.”

Of note, Downs going 11th continued a string of drafts going back to 2018 when a safety was not taken in the top 10. LSU’s Jamal Adams went sixth to the New York Jets in 2017.

DJ Wingfield

The Dallas Cowboys picked up another undrafted rookie free agent when they signed offensive lineman DJ Wingfield, out of either Purdue or USC, depending on what you count.

Wingfield started every game for Purdue in 2024, then announced a transfer to USC. The NCAA then ruled he had exhausted his eligibility, upheld that on appeal and Wingfield missed the entire 2025 season.

He is 6-foot-4, 316 pounds and was given a tryout during rookie minicamp. That went well enough that he is now the 12th undrafted free agent to sign since the draft.
