Tulare Union softball wins in walk-off fashion, El Diamante baseball extends win streak

The 2025-26 Central Section high school sports season is underway.

Softball

Tulare Union 11, Mission Oak 10: Kayloni Cox hit a walk-off single to deliver a West Yosemite League victory for the first-place Tribe (13-12, 7-1).

Mission Oak (7-17-1, 2-6) and Tulare Union combined for 14 runs in the seventh inning. The Hawks scored eight runs in that frame, and the Tribe tallied six runs

Tulare Union grabbed the lead in the first inning, taking an early 2-0 advantage to win its seventh straight game.

Cox, Jazlene Salazar and Abigail Haslam each had two RBIs. Haslam led the Tribe offense, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored.

Also for Tulare Union, Jaksyn Freitas launched a pair of doubles with an RBI and three runs. Jiannah Freitas earned the win in the circle in 2/3 innings. Ava Hernandez, the starter, went 6 1/3 frames with six strikeouts.

Baseball

El Diamante 4, Monache 0: The Miners (19-4, 10-4) defeated the Marauders (19-8, 10-4) to move into a three-way tie for first place in the East Yosemite League standings. Redwood (17-10, 10-4) is also in the mix for the league championship.

Eli Palomino pitched a complete game shutout against Monache, throwing a two-hitter with a pair of strikeouts.

At the plate, the Miners were led by Jacob Anderson (1-3, RBI, R), Aden Robles (2-3, RBI, R), Seth Fults (1-2, R, BB), Jordan Rhyner (1-3), Trent Lira (2-2, 2 RBI, BB), and Reed Bardonnex (1-3).

Baseball

El Diamante 4, Redwood 1: Jordan Rhyner tossed three strikeouts in six innings to lead the Miners to a key EYL win. He allowed five hits and only one earned run.

Aden Robles picked up the save after throwing a scoreless seventh.

The Miners also received contributing performances from Jacob Anderson (1-3, RBI, R, BB), D.J. Gonzalez (1-3, RBI), Robles (1-4, RBI), Seth Fults (2-4, 2B, R), Rhyner (2-3, R), Gauge Rivas (2BB) and Reed Bardonnex (2-3, 2 2B, RBI, R).

Swim and dive

East Yosemite League championships: Redwood swept the team league titles at the conference finale.

On the boys’ side, the Rangers received individual first-place performances from Tyson Phillips (200-yard individual medley) and Blake Peterson (50-yard freestyle).

The Redwood girls were led by individual championship showings from Hadlee Galley (200-yard freestyle) and Mallory Briano (50- and 100-yard freestyles).

The Redwood girls relay team of Isabella Garrett, Galley, Cebria Freeborn, and Briano set a new EYL record in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at a minute and 41.60 seconds.
