LANCASTER – A pedestrian was killed on May 5 on Blacklick Road near Heimberger Road, in Liberty Township in Fairfield County, after being struck by a vehicle.
At approximately 4:59 p.m., May 5, troopers from the Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2017 Subaru Impreza, driven by Robert Kale, 73, of Baltimore, was traveling east on Blacklick Road. Stephen Venturini, 82, of Baltimore, was walking from south to north across Blacklick Road when he was struck by the Subaru, according to the patrol.
Venturini was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kale sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, Basil Joint Fire District, Fairfield County Coroner’s Office, and Long’s Towing.
This crash remains under investigation.
