Car strikes, kills 82-year-old man in Fairfield County

A pedestrian was struck and killed in northern Fairfield County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Stephen Venturini, 82, was crossing Blacklick Road at 4:59 p.m. May 5 when he was struck by a Subaru Impreza traveling east on Blacklick Road near Heimberger Road in Liberty Township, according to a highway patrol news release.

Medics pronounced Venturini dead at the scene east of Pickerington. The driver of the Subaru, 73-year-old Robert Kale, was treated for minor injuries at the scene, according to the news release.

The highway patrol said both men are from nearby Baltimore.

The highway patrol is investigating the crash. The news release did not say whether any charges would be filed.
