Muncie pair charged with dealing fentanyl in Wayne County

RICHMOND, IN — Alleged drug abuse in Wayne County has resulted in dealing charges against a man and woman from Muncie.

Kyle Brengman and Jennifer Nicole Williams, both 35, were charged on Monday, May 4, in Wayne Circuit Court with dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 2 felony carrying up to 30 years in prison, and possession of cocaine, a Level 5 felony with a maximum six-year sentence.

Wayne County sheriff’s deputies reported they found Brengman and Williams, both apparently unconscious, in a locked vehicle that was parked in the middle of U.S. 27 south of Fountain City about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Deputies were at first unable to wake the occupants of the vehicle, described as “slumped over and unresponsive.”

They broke a passenger window before unlocking a door to gain access to the Muncie residents.

Both soon regained consciousness, according to an affidavit. Investigators recovered to plastic bags, containing a total of 50 grams of fentanyl, and 7.3 grams of cocaine.

Deputies said they also observed a “bluish-purple powder,” believed to be fentanyl, on Brengman’s nose.

Brengman and Williams both said they had traveled from Muncie to Clayton, Ohio — along Interstate 70 about eight miles north of Trotwood — where Williams paid about $1,000 to buy narcotics.

Both were taken to Reid Hospital for examinations before being delivered to the Wayne County Jail.

Williams continued to be held in the jail under a $30,000 bond. Initial hearings in both cases are set for May 8.

Court records reflect no prior felony convictions for either Muncie resident.
