Fond du Lac deputies seek tips after motorcycle chase tops 140 mph

FOND DU LAC COUNTY – Deputies are looking for a motorcyclist who fled attempted traffic stops Sunday night, May 3, on Interstate 41, reaching speeds above 140 mph, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident began about 8 p.m. May 3, when a deputy tried to stop a motorcycle for speeding and a license plate violation on northbound I-41 near County Highway B in the town of Byron.

The rider accelerated to more than 130 mph after the deputy activated emergency lights and siren, officials said. The deputy ended the pursuit after the motorcycle continued north and pulled away.

About 8:03 p.m., a second deputy saw the motorcycle exit I-41 at South Hickory Street in Fond du Lac. The rider re-entered the interstate and accelerated past 140 mph, authorities said, and the license plate was mounted under the seat at an angle that made it difficult to read.

Motorcyclist seen again near Townline Road after passing on shoulder, deputies said

About 8:06 p.m., a third deputy saw the motorcycle northbound on I-41 near Townline Road in the town of Friendship. After the deputy activated emergency lights, the rider sped onto the left shoulder and passed a vehicle in the left lane, officials said. The deputy ended the pursuit near Sales Road in the town of Eldorado.

Deputies last saw the motorcycle exit I-41 onto County Highway N, authorities said. They were unable to locate the rider.

Suspect description: dark clothing, dark helmet and striped jacket

The sheriff’s office said investigators collected still images from squad dash camera video.
