A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in Frenchtown Township on Friday, May 1.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of someone being shot in Kimberly Estates at 2:27 p.m. Upon arrival, the deputies found a victim who had been shot in the face with a pellet gun. Preliminary investigation revealed the incident stemmed from a dispute with the suspect, who the victim knew.
“The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries,” stated a release from the sheriff’s office.
At 7 p.m. that same day, Monroe County Central Dispatch received information that the suspect’s vehicle had been found in Kimberly Estates, in the 200 block of Mark Drive. Deputies, along with troopers from the Michigan State Police, responded.
Upon arrival, the officers saw the suspect inside a residence, looking through the blinds. The suspect then exited the home peacefully and was taken into custody without incident. The weapon believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered and seized.
The suspect, a 44-year-old man, was lodged in the Monroe County Jail.
