Plan ahead if you’re driving around Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport over the weekend.
One road and five ramps at the Mitchell Interchange and Interstate 41 are scheduled for closure starting 9 p.m. Friday, May 1 through 3 a.m. Monday, May 4.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation recommends using the following detours to get to the Milwaukee airport:
To leave the airport and head southbound, the DOT recommends taking Howell Avenue to College Avenue and the southbound I-41/94 entrance ramp.
Construction crews are working on a resurfacing project that will redo 6.5 miles of I-41/43/94/894. The entire project is expected to be completed by fall 2026.
The closures are compounded with long-term closures on I-41 between Good Hope Road and North Avenue for a similar rehabilitation project.
