New memorial park opens to honor children lost and grieving families

A new memorial park is completed and will be celebrated during a grand opening on May 2.

Miles’ Mission Memorial Park is located at 710 Military Road. The opening and the dedication of bricks honoring children in heaven will take place at 11 a.m. It includes an Angel of Hope statue.

The Muskingum Valley Park District and nonprofit organization Miles’ Mission worked together on the park to honor infants who died during pregnancy and their grieving families.

“The Miles’ Mission Memorial Park is dedicated to families of child loss,” explained Dr. Michael Bullock, president of Miles’ Mission and senior pastor of Hands of Faith Church. “Whether it is from pregnancy and infant loss, or child loss of any age, this is why the park exists.”

The nonprofit was founded following the stillborn birth of Miles Owen Moore in 2021, by his parents and Bullock, Miles’ grandfather. It spreads awareness about pregnancy and infant loss, provides resources for families and advocates for standardize care across hospitals.

“The underlying privilege has been what it means to our community,” Bullock added. “So many organizations and individuals have contributed to this reality, and for that, we are truly thankful. Our belief is it will be a haven of hope and healing as well as a place to make Zanesville and Muskingum County proud.”
