Before returning to service, Frank’s Restaurant of Zeeland will make “operational improvements,” in addition to repairing the damage sustained after a kitchen fire.
In a post April 26, the business wrote the goal is “strong and clear, to preserve (the) Frank’s we all know and love while making needed operational improvements that will set (the restaurant) up for the future.”
That work, ownership wrote, will take time.
“We understand it won’t happen overnight, but we assure you, the process has already started,” the business wrote.
The restaurant at 134 E. Main Ave. was disrupted by a fire during service April 18. Customers evacuated and several fire trucks responded. According to the business, no one was hurt.
Frank’s hasn’t responded to requests for comment on the fire’s cause or the damage done — but regular social media updates indicate ownership has met with insurance representatives and vendors to return to action.
In the meantime, customers are encouraged to visit Frank’s East at 136 E. Main St. The eatery is offering a limited menu and full bar.
Frank’s celebrated 100 years in business in 2024. The restaurant began as a fruit and confectionery store owned and operated by Frank and Mary Dionise, later evolving into a dine-in restaurant and, by 1960, passing over to Frank Jr. and his wife Pat.
