The Escambia High School baseball team has advanced to the FHSSA regional semifinals, but the Gators need help getting there.
The team needs $10,000 by Thursday, but has only raised $2,100, said Karen Giles, whose son, Cohen Rush, is on the team.
Donations will be used to pay for travel, lodging and meals to Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, which is over 360 miles east of Pensacola. The team of 17 players, along with coaches and other staff, plan to leave Thursday for the semifinal games.
To help the Gators, text GATORS26 to 53555 or go to https://givebutter.com/escambiabaseball26.
“The team has a short window to meet their fundraising goal, and the community has really started to rally behind them raising nearly $2,000 in 48 hours already,” Giles said Tuesday.
The Gators play at Clay High in the Region 1-4A semifinals in a best 2-out-of-3 series on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s game is set for 6 p.m. CT. Game 2 is set for noon Saturday. Game 3 will follow—if necessary.
The Gators won at Bishop Kenny in the Region 1-4A quarterfinals on April 24.
