Red Raiders' Johncarlos Miller II reportedly headed to New York Giants

According to Texas Tech social media account, another Red Raider is heading to the pros. Tight end Johncarlos Miller II is now a New York Giant. Miller quietly become one of the more reliable developmental success stories inside the Texas Tech football program, as he carved out a steady role in the Red Raiders’ tight end rotation in Lubbock after arriving via the transfer portal. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound senior from Greensboro, North Carolina, came to Lubbock after a productive run at Elon. There, Miller established himself as one of the most productive FCS tight ends in the country. And once at Texas Tech, he quickly adapted to the Big 12 level, contributing both as a pass-catcher and as a physical in-line blocker.

Miller’s impact on the field actually goes beyond the stat sheet, however. He has been a key part of multiple tight end formations for the Red Raiders, rotating with others to create options in both the run and passing game. Coaches have counted on him in several plays to provide discipline and willingness to handle the gritty jobs that don’t always make the box score.

During his time in Lubbock, Miller was also a steady contributor on special teams as well as a dependable red-zone option. He was a veteran presence at Texas Tech in one of the more physically demanding roles on the roster.

The New York Giants have leaned heavily on two-tight end sets and in-line personnel packages. In that kind of setup, players like Miller, who is a strong blocker, dependable in assignments, and athletic enough to challenge underneath zones, often find opportunities. He may not be a Day 1 difference-maker, but Miller’s game is controllable, coachable, and situationally valuable. That’s a great addition to the Giants’ tight end group.
