Ohio State, men's basketball strength coach Quadrian Banks parting ways

Ohio State men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach Quadrian Banks and the Buckeyes have parted ways.

Banks, who spent the last nine seasons with the program, went to Ohio State in July 2017 after a year working with the Indianapolis Colts, where he was a performance and conditioning analyst. Before that, Banks spent three years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.

“My family and I just have an overwhelming appreciation for every student-athlete that has come through the doors over these past eight-plus years,” Banks said. “Extremely grateful for both the men’s basketball and spirit staff members supporting me over the years. Brutus, Men’s Hoops, and THE women of Ohio State Cheer will forever hold a place in my heart.”

Banks then cited a Bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11, which reads, ” ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ “

Ohio State is the fifth men’s basketball program Banks has worked with during his career, and it was where he earned his Ph.D. in sport management with a focus in kinesiology, adding Dr. to his title in December 2024. He received an undergrad degree from the University of Texas at Austin in kinesiology, health promotion and fitness in 2003, and he earned a master’s of education at Prairie View A&M in 2005.

He was named a master strength and conditioning coach by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association on May 13, 2020, and was honored in May 2021 at the CSCCA National Conference.

Banks is the second member of the 2025-26 men’s basketball coaching and support staff to leave. After two years with coach Jake Diebler, associate head coach Joel Justus took an assistant job at Vanderbilt to be closer to family and also reunited with his longtime friend, coach Mark Byington.
