Texas A&M receives prediction to land another five-star OL prospect

A day after landing a commitment from five-star offensive lineman Kennedy Brown, the Texas A&M Aggies have emerged as the favorite to land a five-star offensive tackle.

Mark Matthews is the top offensive tackle in the country, and Texas A&M is facing stiff competetion for him, but On3’s Steve Wiltfong believes they are the team to beat in his recruitment and has logged a prediction for them to land his commitment. According to Wiltfong, the Miami Hurricanes were his top school, but Mike Elko’s program has pulled ahead.

It will not be easy for Texas A&M to close. Matthews is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the Hurricanes will likely do everything they can to keep him home, even if he does make a commitment to the Aggies. The good news is that Texas A&M has hosted him on multiple visits this spring and has impressed him both times.

Matthews is ranked as the No. 6 overall player and No. 1 offensive tackle in the Rivals industry ranking. He is also the No. 1 player from Florida. He would be their fourth addition along the line, joining Brown, an interior offensive lineman, and four-star offensive tackle prospects Kaeden Scott and DeMarrion Johnson.

He would be another massive addition to Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class, which is already ranked as the best in the country. Matthews would be their fifth five-star commit, with no other program in the country having more than two. The other five-stars are Brown, safety Kamarui Dorsey, edge Zyron Forstall, and cornerback Raylaun Henry.
