Instant analysis of Dolphins taking Caleb Douglas in the NFL draft

After making three picks in the first two rounds of the 2026 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins were back on the clock at No. 75 overall in the third round, and they took Texas Tech wide receiver Caleb Douglas.

The 22-year-old split his collegiate career between Florida and Texas Tech, where he earned All-Big 12 honors. In 40 games, he caught 135 passes for 2,031 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Miami lost Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek Hill and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine this offseason, and signed Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell and Terrace Marshall Jr. to take their places in the wide receiver room. That’s not exactly ideal.

That’s why the Dolphins needed to address the position group in the first three rounds of the draft. While Douglas shouldn’t be expected to be a WR1 in the NFL, he could compete for a decent role in Miami, considering how thin they are at the position.

If he can’t carve out a spot in this room, that’s a bad sign for a third-round pick.
