Fairfield County Sheriff receives grant to fight violent crime

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office will receive grant money to support violent crime reduction initiatives.

The sheriff’s office will receive $33,244.70 of the latest round of the Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program, according to a community announcement from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s office.

The grants are part of a $3.4 million funding package that will be distributed to law enforcement agencies in 28 counties. The program, which launched in 2021, has awarded more than $87 million to more than 200 local law enforcement agencies.

The funding can be used for investigative overtime costs, new technology to support crime reduction and targeted patrols in high-crime areas.

“There is no shortage of innovative ideas that our local law enforcement agencies are using to combat violent crime in their communities,” DeWine said in the announcement. “Their work to implement crime-fighting technology and tactics is making Ohio safer.”

The grants are funded through the state’s 2026-27 operating budget.
