Live: Iowa City police, leaders give update after downtown shooting

The City of Iowa City and the Iowa City Police Department are holding a news conference at 4 p.m., Wednesday, in response to a downtown shooting that wounded five people, including three University of Iowa students.

Iowa City police officers responded to a “large fight” that broke out shortly before 2 a.m., Sunday, April 19, in Iowa City’s Pedestrian Mall, a few blocks from the UI campus.

The officers allegedly heard gunfire when they arrived, later confirming that five people had been shot and were being treated at area hospitals.

No arrests have been made.
