A Clermont County man is accused of killing his 4-month-old daughter, officials said.
Marcellaus Malone, 30, was indicted on 10 charges that include endangering children, domestic violence and murder, according to an April 21 release from the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office.
Milford police were called to the apartment Malone occupied Dec. 11 because his daughter was unresponsive. They were unable to revive the girl.
Officials said they learned Malone had a pattern of abuse after responding to his apartment when the child died.
“On at least one occasion, he punched the infant in the face for crying,” the release said.
Investigators also found video of Malone telling the child she was “going to be a dead baby” if she kept bothering him.
Malone, who was the last to see the infant alive, tightly swaddled and suffocated the child in the past to discourage her from crying.
Her autopsy documented as a contributory cause of death, reported a history of swaddling that may have covered her nose and mouth contributed to her death.
If convicted on all 10 charges, officials said Malone faces life in prison.
