See the home that sold for more than $1M in Sangamon County last month

SPRINGFIELD – A home in Sherman sold for over a million dollars in March, quadrupling over the median average cost of a home in Springfield.

According to Realtor.com economic research, a residential real estate website using data from sales to calculate medians, the average listing for a home in Springfield is $159,900 across 422 homes listed, below the national median of $405,300.

The home in Sherman, just a short drive outside of the city of Springfield, holds onto the high price tag because of luxury upgrades to the expansive yard and interior.

Here’s a look at the 10 most expensive homes sold in March in Sangamon County.

10. 2324 Chesapeake Landing, Springfield

Price: $477,500

Date: March 17

Size: 4,224 square feet

Description: Located in the North Lake Shore subdivision, this two-story home blends sophistication and refined comfort into functional living spaces. With five bedrooms and five baths, this home is functional to save energy with dual geothermal systems, a whole-house generator and two water heaters. Other updates to the house include a new roof, new siding, two updated bathrooms in the upstairs and a wet bar in the basement.

Description: This five-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom waterfront home with a pond in the back was thoughtfully designed for entertainment. The main level showcases hardwood floors, soaring 18-foot ceilings and a main-floor primary suite while the gourmet kitchen loops around a center island to keep the party space open. Other luxury upgrades to make the home stand out have to be the screened-in porch and deck, with a view to the pond out back.
