Metro Detroit native Jamie Ding is now a 27-time “Jeopardy!” champion and will be back to compete Tuesday, April 21.
Ding has won $753,000 and is fifth all-time in victories, according to Jeopardy.com and TheJeopardyFan.com.
The New Jersey-based bureaucrat and law student is a 2009 graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School and his father Yuchuan Ding is a professor at Wayne State University.

What happened Monday, April 20?
Ding competed against contestants Caleb Phillips, an account manager from Austin, Texas, and Caroline Coughlin, an economic researcher from Somerville, Massachusetts, according to Jeopardy.com.
According to The Jeopardy! Fan website, Ding missed the last Double Jeopardy question, but then answered the last question before Final Jeopardy correctly, maintain a lead over Phillips.
Heading into Final Jeopardy, Ding had $24,000, while Phillips had $10,000 and Coughlin had $1,800.
All three contestants missed the correct response, “What is Jungfrau?” to the Final Jeopardy prompt: “‘Heidi’ was set in Maienfeld, which is northeast from this 13,642-foot peak with a name that describes what Heidi is.”
Ding lost $3,000 in Final Jeopardy, ending as the winner at $21,000; while Phillips and Coughlin bet everything and both ended at zero dollars.

Who is Jamie Ding?
Jamie Ding is a 27-time “Jeopardy!” champion, a resident of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and an employee of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency.
Ding has ties to metro Detroit. He is a 2009 graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School, according to the Grosse Pointe Public School System.
His father, Yuchuan Ding, is a professor of neurosurgery in the Wayne State University School of Medicine, Jamie Ding said on a recent “Jeopardy!” episode, WSU noted in a March 31 Facebook post.

Ding, with 27 wins, is among the top 10 in “Jeopardy!” history at fifth place all-time.
