Onaway softball player Aubrey Havel was voted by readers as the Cheboygan Daily Tribune’s Athlete of the Week for April 6-18.
Havel won this week’s poll by capturing 52.35 percent of the vote, while Wolverine softball player Zayla Dubois was second with 42.08 percent of the vote.
The poll opened on Monday, April 20, and closed at 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 24.
Here were this week’s candidates:
Jaelyn Wheelock, Cheboygan Girls Soccer – Recorded a hat trick in a victory at Kalkaska.
Lydia Kosanke, Cheboygan Softball – Went 3-for-4 with her first-career varsity home run, while striking out 11 in a shutout pitching performance at East Jordan.
Cash DePauw, Inland Lakes Baseball– Pitched a no-hitter with nine strikeouts in a shutout win at Boyne City.
Braylon Currie, Mackinaw City Baseball – Became Mackinaw City’s all-time winningest baseball pitcher by collecting his 31st career win against Posen.
Aubrey Havel, Onaway Softball – Finished 3-for-3 with an RBI in a game against Harbor Springs.
Brett Bonter, Pellston Baseball – Struck out 15 batters and recorded a hit and two runs scored against Johannesburg-Lewiston.
Noah Chatfield, Burt Lake NMCA Baseball – Went 2-for-3 in a game against Charlton Heston Academy.
Zayla Dubois, Wolverine Softball – Struck out a combined 19 batters in a doubleheader against Boyne Falls.
