The weather service noted that the cold temperatures could harm plants left outside if they are uncovered.

It will be mostly sunny during the day with a high near 50. But it will be windy with gusts as high as 29 mph.

There’s also a chance of snow showers between midnight at 1 a.m., the weather service said.

As for Monday night, it’ll be cold again, with a low around 27 degrees. The high temperature during the day will be near 45 degrees with wind gusts as high as 20 mph.

How can I protect my plants from frost?

According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, one effective way to protect your plants is to cover them with a blanket or a row cover. The publication doesn’t recommend using plastic and says the plants need air circulation so blankets should be loose.

When is the last frost of the season in Northeast Ohio?

The National Gardening Association allows people to enter their ZIP code or city on its website (https://garden.org/apps/frost-dates/) and see the first and last frost dates for their community.

The last threat of frost typically arrives May 22 in the Canton region, according to the association.
