As rain continues across Michigan on Wednesday, April 15, following severe thunderstorms, the National Weather Service is reporting nearly 2 inches of rainfall in some regions.
Thunderstorms brought rain, reported tornadoes, thunder and high winds to communities statewide overnight, downing power lines and trees, damaging buildings and flipping a vehicle on its side. More than 50,000 customers were without power Wednesday morning, April 15, as crews worked to restore service.

Current rainfall reports from local National Weather Services in White Lake and Marquette show light to moderate rainfall on April 15 in southeast Michigan, mid-Michigan and April 14 in the Upper Peninsula.
Rainfall totaled 1.95 inches in southeast Michigan’s White Lake, while reports from the U.P. showed less than half an inch, as low as 0.32 inches in Garden Corners in the south-central U.P., according to the NWS.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout Wednesday, April 15, with a flood watch in effect throughout the state through Thursday night, April 16, and in some areas, a flood warning or flood advisory, the weather agency said.
