Not every single Cheboygan-area high school has a track and field team.
But for the ones that do, they feature some quality athletes.
For Cheboygan, Inland Lakes, Onaway and Pellston athletes, they’ll be looking to have success in their respective events and score numerous points.
With track meets underway, here’s the Cheboygan-area boys athletes to know for the 2026 campaign.
Evan Fradette, Cheboygan, Senior – A senior with plenty of experience, Fradette returns to lead the Chiefs in the pole vault as well as the 800 and 4X800 relay.
Darwin Libby, Cheboygan, Freshman – Only in his first varsity season, Libby will look to score points in the 100 and 200, along with the 4X100 and 4X200 relays.
Devin Fuller, Cheboygan, Sophomore – Cheboygan’s main thrower to watch is Fuller, who will compete in the shot put and discus, while also participating in various sprinting events.
Zander Robinson, Inland Lakes, Sophomore – Delivering a massive freshman season for the Bulldogs was Robinson, who won regional and Ski Valley titles in the pole vault, with the former securing him a trip to the state finals. Robinson will also compete in running events.
Tanner Howard, Inland Lakes, Junior – One of I-L’s most well-rounded athletes is Howard, who will compete in jumps and can participate in events ranging from the 100 to the 1600. He’ll also be a part of I-L’s sprint relay teams.
Jake Feagan, Inland Lakes, Junior – An experienced sprinter, Feagan will look to play a role in the open events and relays. Last season, Feagan was a part of a 4X200 relay team that qualified for states.
Elijah Elliott, Inland Lakes, Senior – A versatile runner who could be involved in any open event from the 100 to the 800, Elliott will also make an impact in the jumps, hurdles and relays.
Logan Holden, Inland Lakes, Sophomore – The Bulldogs will be led in the long-distance events by Holden, who qualified for the state finals in cross country.
Christian Copeland, Inland Lakes, Freshman – Will look to be a key contributor for the Bulldogs in the jumps and long sprinting events.
Trenton Soik, Onaway, Senior – One of Onaway’s fastest athletes is Soik, who will compete in the sprinting events as well as the long jump.
Jonas Benson, Onaway, Senior – Will be aiming to lift the Cardinals in the shot put and discus.
Phineas Benson, Onaway, Junior – Another thrower who will participate in the shot put and discus.
Brady Bonter, Pellston, Senior – A versatile and experienced athlete, Bonter will be hoping to cap off his career with success in the sprints, sprint relay and long jump events.
John Sonnenberg, Pellston, Junior – A key returning sprinter, Sonnenberg will lead the Hornets in the 400 and relay events.
Joshua Grondin, Pellston, Senior – Will look to pick up points mainly in the high jump, but Grondin has also competed in the hurdle events during his career.
Others to watch: Lucas Livermore (Pellston), Hunter Brandt (Pellston), Connor Keller (Pellston)
