Westerville resident Jason Day put together two clean rounds of golf at Augusta National and sat tied for seventh when his second round finished April 10 at the 2026 Masters Tournament, making the cut to compete for the green jacket.
Day shot a 69 in the first round, starting with a bogey on the third hole and rebounded with four birdies, including three on the back nine. He entered the second day tied for third and put together a 71 to remain in the top 10 of the standings at 4-under par.
He ran into trouble on the 16th hole during his second round, finding a green-side bunker on his tee shot. He rebounded with a crafty bunker shot to get within 5 feet of the hole for a par save. Day had another par save on the 17th hole after missing the green in regulation.
On No. 18, Day went into the woods on his tee shot, but found the fairway on his second shot. He barely missed a par putt to drop out of his tied-for-fifth position to end his day.
Day’s best finish at the Masters was in 2011, when he tied for second with fellow Australian Adam Scott, two strokes behind Charl Schwartzel. Day won the PGA Championship in 2015 and previously tied for second in both the U.S. and British opens.
