We often write that the Cincinnati Bengals quietly have a few sleeper needs on the offensive side of the ball while much of the attention understandably focuses on the defensive side.
One of those is wideout, where the third spot hasn’t been locked down by someone like Andrei Iosivas when tight end Mike Gesicki isn’t soaking up snaps there.
The other is that tight end position.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine recently tabbed tight end as a surprising need the Bengals could draft and suggested some options:
“Michael Trigg was named the best receiving tight end on our latest big board. Jack Endries put together versatile film in stops at Cal and Texas while Eli Raridon is the latest Notre Dame NFL tight end prospect.”
The tight end depth chart is a bit of a mess for the Bengals. Gesicki is a big slot wideout. Drew Sample is a blocker only. Erick All is a do-it-all, possible breakout, but huge injury risk. Tanner Hudson and Cam Grandy are depth.
Like third wideout, the Bengals actually using a draft pick on the spot wouldn’t be a shock. It’s not nearly as important as fixing the defense, but the need is quietly there.
And at least it’s not the offensive line that’s the issue for once, right?
