Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield will deliver her first State of the City address at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 from Mumford High School.
You can watch the speech in the video player above, or at one of the locations listed below.
Sheffield will outline her achievements thus far in her first few months in office, as well as lay out her vision for the rest of her term, with an aim to inspire Detroiters to have hope for a brighter future, her office said. She expects to tap into quality of life improvements, particularly in the city’s neighborhoods outside of the downtown area, and ways she plans to boost housing, population growth, address educational barriers and further reduce crime.
“She talked a lot about investing in neighborhood commercial corridors, so she’ll be unveiling a plan on how she plans to address that issue — and not picking winners and losers, but making sure every neighborhood sees some sort of intention and investment moving forward,” Deputy Mayor Brian White told the Free Press on Monday, March 30.
The speech will begin streaming at 6:30 p.m. via cable channels and the city’s social media platforms.
