Texas A&M softball extends streak with 18–3 rout of Sam Houston

The No. 15 Texas A&M softball team extended its winning streak to four games on Tuesday night, rolling past Sam Houston in an 18–3 run‑rule victory at Davis Diamond.

Coming off a dominant offensive showing against Kentucky in which the Aggies scored 26 runs across the weekend, the momentum carried straight into their midweek matchup. Texas A&M launched a season‑high five home runs, with its first five runs all coming via the long ball. Tallen Edwards opened the scoring with a two‑run shot, followed by a solo homer from Mya Perez. Ariel Kowalewski added a two‑run blast to give the Aggies a 5–0 lead after the first inning.

A double steal added another run in the second, and Kowalewski struck again with her second home run of the night to push the margin to 9–0. Sam Houston plated two in the top of the third, but the Aggies immediately answered. After a wild pitch scored Kennedy Powell, Micaela Werk delivered her team‑tying 13th home run of the season to extend the lead to 12–2.

The Bearkats added a single run in the fourth, but Texas A&M put the game out of reach with a six‑run surge in the bottom half. KK Dement started the rally with a leadoff double, followed by an RBI single from Kelsey Mathis. A series of singles, a walk, and another wild pitch kept the pressure on before Powell drove in two more with a sharp single. Edwards added another RBI, and a fielder’s choice allowed Piper White to score the final run, giving the Aggies an 18–3 advantage entering the fifth.

With two outs in the top of the fifth, pitcher Taylor Pannell ended the night early by recording a swinging strikeout to secure the run‑rule victory.

Texas A&M will head to Austin to face the No. 1 Texas Longhorns in a three-game series starting on Friday, March 27, at 6:00 p.m. CST. The game can be viewed on SEC Network+ and the ESPN App.
