Big Bend After Reentry program gets donation from 100 Women Who Care

At the recent March check presentation by 100 Women Who Care/Tallahassee of $28,800 to the members of the Board, volunteers and staff of the Big Bend After Reentry Coalition, it was evident that there is a strong commitment to help the formerly incarcerated in Leon County.

The Board Chair, Keith Parker, Board Members, Anne Meisenzahi (co-founder), Marcellas Durham, Jr., Patrick Mahoney, Saskiya Fagan, Tamara Lockley and Welcome Center Coordinator, Elaine Webb all spoke about the work of their coalition which includes establishing community partnerships, informational outreach to the business community and help with employment opportunities, counseling services, housing, health services, etc.

The BBARC Welcome Center is often a first stop for formerly incarcerated individuals to help with case management, training classes, workshops, social engagement and mentoring.

The assistance provided helps returning citizens to fulfill probation requirements, develop skills or share with others in a supportive environment. A 31 day bus pass is provided to those that attend the programs.

100 Women Who Care Tallahassee 270 members are committed to supporting deserving organizations in Leon County. Each quarter three nonprofits are chosen by a drawing from nominations submitted by members. The three organizations are invited to have a representative give a presentation of the pertinent information and mission of the respective organization.

Members are encouraged to attend in person, but attendance and voting online is available, to choose the quarterly recipient.

Since its inception in 2020, over $594,000 has been donated to 501C3 local groups. For more informaiton, visit 100wwctlh.org.
