SAVE America Act is a disgrace. It just can't pass. | Opinion

My wife and I have been voting absentee for about 25 years due to traveling and having a home in Florida. If the SAVE America Act passes, this 83-year-old man will have to push his 82-year-old wife in a transport chair to the Shelby Township offices with our passports, state IDs, marriage license and birth certificates in hand to have our citizenship verified by a person who signed a fake elector sheet. (Editor’s note: Shelby Township Clerk Stanley Grot was part of a scheme to seat a slate of false electors to illegally award the 2020 presidential election to Donald Trump.)

How ridiculous is that?

SAVE Act is common sense

We need to pass the SAVE America Act and cement the safety and integrity of all future elections. Once and for all, let’s put this process in a sacred place. We can board airplanes, cash checks, buy booze, cigarettes, guns, weed and even NyQuil while having no problem verifying whom you are. Only American citizens are allowed to vote.

Make this a common sense law.

The SAVE Act is a disgrace

All Republicans in the House voted for the SAVE America Act. Trump says if it passes, Democrats will not win for 50 years. U.S. Rep. John James, you are not serving your constituents by supporting this bill.

We who did not serve in the military do serve as soldiers for democracy. Our tool is the vote. It is our most powerful tool in what our founders created 250 years ago. This SAVE Act is a deceitful attempt to disenfranchise millions of voters for one purpose. To seize power. It is disguised as being patriotic, but in truth it is all about power. The president said it out loud. Elizabeth Cady Stanton, John Lewis and those who were beaten on the Edmund Pettis Bridge all fought (and some died) trying to extend the power of suffrage to more Americans.

John James and the Republicans are making it more difficult and discouraging to exercise this sacred right as citizens. Voting fraud is so insignificant in this country (the data of the Heritage Foundation supports that claim) yet Republicans continue to gaslight a problem that does not exist.
