A portion of Interstate 76 in Akron was closed Thursday night as the result of an accident.

The westbound lanes of the busy interstate were closed west at Arlington Road after a tanker truck crashed.
Police and fire crews responded to the crash around 9 p.m. Thursday.
No other details were released.
The city of Akron urged motorists to avoid the area as traffic on the interstate backed up.
The interstate was reopened to traffic by around 11:30 p.m.
