A Simi Valley teen was arrested on March 17 after shooting at two men and their vehicle in Moorpark days earlier, authorities said.
The 17-year-old was booked into the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of felony attempted murder after the shooting, according to a Ventura County Sheriff’s Office news release. The sheriff’s office is contracted to provide police services for the city of Moorpark.
The Simi Valley Police Department SWAT team searched the youth’s home the morning of March 17 and found evidence linking him to the crime, authorities said.
Deputies with the sheriff’s office arrived at the 100 block of Flory Avenue on March 7 after receiving a report that a shooting had taken place following a disturbance at a nearby party, officials said.
Sheriff’s detectives arrested two 18-year-olds from Simi Valley and a 21-year-old Moorpark man early March 8 in connection with the shooting, the sheriff’s office said.
Investigators found that two people had gotten into an argument and a physical altercation in the street and adjacent parking lot, sheriff’s officials said. During the fight, the 17-year-old pulled out a gun and fired at two victims and their vehicle as they fled, authorities said.
No one was struck by gunfire, and the sheriff’s office was not immediately available to confirm whether the three other individuals remain in jail, authorities said.
