More than a year into President Donald Trump’s second term, a third nationwide No Kings protest is planned for Saturday, March 28.
With four events set so far in the Coachella Valley, the protests could once again prompt millions to voice their disapproval at the direction of the U.S. government.
It’s the third large-scale protest under the No Kings banner. Over 1,000 events are planned throughout the country.
A flagship gathering is planned to be held in Minneapolis and St. Paul, the site of a controversial immigration crackdown that resulted in the high-profile deaths of two people, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, at the hands of federal immigration officers. A third person arrested by ICE, Victor Diaz, died in custody.
“The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings — and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty,” the organizers of the protest wrote on the event’s website. “Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger. ‘No Kings’ is more than just a slogan; it is the foundation our nation was built upon.”
When is the next No Kings rally in 2026?
The next No Kings protest is planned for March 28.
Four events have been scheduled for the Coachella Valley, with two in Palm Springs and one each in Palm Desert and Indio.
What is a No Kings protest?
The No Kings protest began in response to Trump’s plan to hold a military parade in Washington, D.C., on June 14, 2025, the 250th anniversary of the U.S. army as well as the president’s birthday.
Responding to the perceived symbolism of the president flexing his power through the military, around 5 million protesters attended counter-demonstrations, according to No Kings organizers.
Four months later, over 7 million people attended a follow-up rally, organizers have said.
“What began in June as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy,” reads text on the No Kings website.
In the Coachella Valley, thousands of people turned out for both No Kings protests in a strong show of support for the movement.
Who is behind the No Kings protests?
A large collection of groups have combined to organize the No Kings protests across the United States, primarily led by Indivisible, a progressive group with more than 1,000 chapters across the country.
In the Coachella Valley, the local chapter of Indivisible has teamed up with another progressive group called Courageous Resistance to organize the large protests.
