Northfield Township Fire Department officials said firefighters and medics were called to an area on U.S. 23 near Six Mile Road for a report of a rolled-over commercial truck.

They arrived and found three people who were in the truck, according to authorities. The third person refused to be taken to a hospital by medics, officials said.

According to a preliminary investigation, the truck was carrying household items with no hazardous materials.

The highway’s southbound lanes were reduced to one lane while officials investigated and cleaned up.

Michigan State Police said last Tuesday that 11 people died on Michigan roadways over the previous week, raising the total number of traffic deaths to 127 so far this year.

In addition, another 61 people were seriously injured, bringing the statewide total of injuries from crashes to 615, the agency reported.

Still, there are eight fewer fatalities and eight fewer serious injuries compared to the same period last year, state police data said.
