IndyStar named one of country's top sports departments in APSE contest

The IndyStar Sports department won 13 APSE awards in the annual national Associated Press Sports Editors competition, including a triple crown for our top 10s in Project, Print Portfolio and Digital. It was the most in the B classification and third-most overall.

Dana Hunsinger Benbow’s project “Only woman in the room” on women sports executives in Indianapolis earned a top 10. Rankings of the individual categories are traditionally released at the end of April.

Gregg Doyel earned top 10s in columns and explanatory, with Grace Smith also honored for an action and feature photo.

IndyStar has won 101 APSE awards over the last 10 years, the most by an active sports department in the country.
