Tornado watch issued for Cincinnati area counties. What we know

A strong storm system will move through the region Wednesday, March 11, bringing the potential for multiple rounds of severe weather, flooding, and gusty winds.

Greater Cincinnati counties in Ohio are under a tornado watch until noon. The watch covers Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren counties.

Brace for an active and potentially disruptive day of weather, beginning with a morning round of storms and continuing through the afternoon as conditions become increasingly favorable for damaging winds, hail and even isolated tornadoes, according to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Timing of thunderstorms

Morning: Storms and showers are possible with the possibility of severe weather.

Afternoon: Storms are possible with the possibility of severe weather, especially south of I-71, including hail, gusty winds and isolated tornadoes

This evening: Severe threat will end with the cold front passage early this evening.

Detailed Cincinnati weather forecast

Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms before 2 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 2 p.m. High near 77. Southwest wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tuesday night: Showers, mainly before 8 p.m. Low around 33. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 50. Northwest wind around 7 mph.

Thursday night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 38. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph after midnight.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Southwest wind 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 55.

Saturday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Sunday: A chance of rain after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday night: Rain before 2 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow. Low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 21.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37.
