Boca Raton voters elected three new City Council members on March 10, but the race for mayor remains undecided and appears headed for a recount with all 38 precincts reporting.
The race for mayor is a virtual tie between attorney Andy Thomson and former energy executive Mike Liebelson, according to unofficial results from the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Office. The 6-vote margin — less than 1% of all votes cast — is small enough to trigger an automatic recount once the Supervisor of Elections Office assesses the results.
No final decision on whether a recount will happen is expected before March 12.
The final unofficial results for the mayoral race are:
Voters elected CPA Michelle Grau to serve in Seat A on the City Council. Grau secured the seat with 66.64% of the vote, defeating family law attorney Christen Ritchey and real estate broker Bernard Korn.
The final unofficial results with 38 of 38 precincts reporting are:
Voters elected architect Jonathan Pearlman to serve in Seat B, unseating incumbent Marc Wigder. Pearlman secured the seat with 52.86% of the vote, defeating Wigder and community advocate Meredith Madsen.
Pearlman has been a leader of the Save Boca nonprofit that opposed the redevelopment of nearly 8 acres in the city’s downtown. Voters rejected a ballot question that would have allowed the project to go forward.
The final unofficial results with 38 of 38 precincts reporting are:
Voters elected retired oncology pharmacist Stacy Sipple to serve the one-year term in Seat D. Sipple secured the seat with 55.80% of the vote, defeating former county mayor Robert Weinroth and retired contractor Larry Cellon.
The final unofficial results with 38 of 38 precincts reporting are:
