Three Oshkosh, Fond du Lac boys basketball teams are 2 wins from state

The WIAA boys basketball tournament has made it through regionals.

There are three Oshkosh, Fond du Lac area teams still playing and find themselves two wins away from a state tournament appearance.

Here’s a look at who those teams are, how they got to sectionals and their path to state.

Division 1

Oshkosh North

Oshkosh North is back in sectionals for the second straight season. This year it made it as a No. 10 seed. It beat Bay Port 82-64 in the first round of regionals and then beat Arrowhead 60-52 in the regional championship.

Oshkosh North will play No. 3 Brookfield East at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 12, at Hartford Union High School in the sectional semifinal.

Division 4

Lomira

Lomira is onto sectionals for the second straight season. To make sectionals, Lomira beat Nekoosa 77-33 in the regional semifinals and Markesan 88-60 in the regional championship. Charlie Cole, Keegan Kell, Jake Broeske and Jackson Bloohm all scored 12 points in the win over Nekoosa. In the win over Markesan, Lomira had six different double-digit scorers, led by Kell who had 15.

With the Lomira girls basketball team playing in the state tournament on Thursday, March 12, the boys sectional semifinal game is Wednesday, March 12. Lomira, the No. 1 seed in Division 4, Sectional 3B, will play No. 3 Pardeeville at 7 p.m. at Portage High School.

Division 5

Oakfield

The Oakfield Oaks have made sectionals for the second straight season. Oakfield had a first-round bye and then beat Catholic Central 64-51 in the regional semifinals and Central Wisconsin Christian 55-45 for the regional championship. Against Catholic Central, Oakfield was led by Brayden Glugla who had 20 points. In the regional championship, Glugla led the way with 15 points.

Oakfield, a No. 1 seed, will look to move a win away a state tournament appearance as it plays No. 2 Sheboygan Lutheran at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 12, at Campbellsport High School.
