When does Miami play next? RedHawks are top seed in MAC tournament

After completing a perfect regular season at 31-0, the 19th-ranked Miami RedHawks move on to the Mid-American Conference tournament at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena.

The RedHawks are the No. 1 seed in the tournament, and will face eighth-seeded UMass in the first game of the day, Thurs., March 12 at 11 a.m. Eastern.

The game is scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN+.

The RedHawks need three wins to earn the MAC’s NCAA tournament automatic bid. Head coach Travis Steele is expected to wear a Speedo to the team’s Selection Sunday watch party.

“Let’s be honest. We’ve never had a scenario quite like this,” ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi said of the RedHawks. “I just still can’t imagine the selection committee leaving out a 31-0 team that loses in their conference tournament.”

Steele told ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt he believes the RedHawks can be a second-weekend team in the NCAA tournament.

Chris Bassitt, a former Akron pitcher with the Baltimore Orioles, said he’d have a tough time picking the Zips to beat the RedHawks in the MAC tourney.
