Boil water advisory issued in Ontario; Wayne Central schools closed Monday

A boil water advisory has been issued following a water main break at the intersection of Knickerbocker Road and Lake Road in the Town of Ontario.

Residents are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice and washing dishes until further notice. Bottled water may be used as an alternative. Bathing and laundry may continue, but officials recommend avoiding swallowing tap water.

The advisory is expected to remain in effect for approximately 48 hours while repairs are completed and water quality testing is conducted. Town officials will provide updates as they become available.

Due to the water main break, the Wayne Central School District announced it will be closed Monday, March 2, for all students and staff. District officials directed families to view the full boil water advisory on the Town of Ontario’s website at www.ontariotown.org.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the town’s website for updates.
