Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz sent a three-word message on a Keenan Allen reunion in free agency.
At the NFL combine in Indianapolis on Tuesday, Hortiz was asked if the Chargers would re-sign the veteran wide receiver.
“It’s a possibility,” Hortiz said.
He then added: “I love Keenan, look at what he did for us last year.”
Allen provided a veteran presence to a young receiver corps, finishing the year with 777 yards on 81 receptions and four touchdowns.
The comeback to LA was monumental for Allen as he recorded his 1,000th career reception. Allen is currently an unrestricted free agent, but he’s expressed interest in a reunion with the Chargers.
Allen revealed he plans on continuing his playing career in 2026 and he wants to continue wearing the powder blue.
“Body feels good, healthy. Being in the locker room around guys like Ladd [McConkey], Justin [Herbert]-you know, like we talked about it. It keeps me young and able to do what I’m supposed to do,” Allen told Zach Gelb in an interview earlier this month.
How will the Chargers offense be different in 2026?
The Chargers will have a new-look offense under Mike McDaniel and Hortiz has confirmed the front office will be searching to improve the offensive line primarily as well as other positions.
“We’re going to attack the O-line, we’re going to attack the defense, we’re going to attack the backs and tight ends, everything,” Hortiz added. “The more weapons and more players we can put around Justin, the better we protect Justin.”
The question becomes whether McDaniel sees him as an option in his offense and whether it makes sense to pair him with Ladd McConkey again, as Allen’s presence cut into McConkey’s route tree and production in 2025. McConkey finished with 66 catches for 789 yards after posting 82 catches for 1,149 yards as a rookie.
