Abilene police are looking for suspects in the city’s first homicide of 2026, according to a media release.
A man was discovered injured outside apartments in North Abilene early Wednesday morning, the Abilene Police Department said in the media release.
Police received a call about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday of an injured person outside the Courtyard Park apartment complex in the 3300 block of Sherry Lane, police said.
Officers found an unresponsive 44-year-old Hispanic man lying on the pavement outside the entrance to the complex, police said. He had suffered from wounds consistent with a homicide.
The man was transported by ambulance to a hospital, police said. He was later pronounce deceased at the hospital.
Police said they are withholding his identity until next of kin are notified. Investigators are looking for a suspect or suspects in the killing.
